The Jon Amor Trio
Jon, having collected his suit from the laundrette after an industrially hot wash, records a video for 'Red Telephone' from his fantastic album 'Colour In The Sky'.
Jon's early solo albums are a string of pearls that take pride of place in my own collection of music, and after a long hiatus just before the emergence of Covid the taps opened again with the release of the wonderful 'Colour In The Sky', which I cannot praise enough. During lockdown I had expected some livestreaming from Jon but there was also an outpouring of yet more original recording with the release of 'Remote Control' and 'Birdmens' the latter being a tremendous collaboration with some of my favourite artists (eg Joel Fisk, Ian Siegal and many others). The man is hot, very hot.
Jon carries with him the reputation of one of the best respected players and more importantly, the nicest bloke you could be fortunate enough to meet.
He graciously accepted my invitation to come and play at my birthday bash in December and stole the night.
Over time Jon has brought us many different lineups. Every one a gem. With this one he turns the clock back to his days travelling with Amor, and revisits his blues roots. Suits me just fine. In fact anything he does suits me just fine.
Over the last 12 years Jon has brought a ton of joy to Bluefunk in whatever incarnation he brings it. Looks like there will be a few more hundredweight involved in this one.
