And now for something completely different. Well a bit different at least. Here's a very talented chap who looks like he would be right at home amongst the good ole boys in Texas but actually hails from Los Angeles, and is in the habit of upsetting everyone's apple cart with a brand of maverick funky country blues. The best nutshell description of his music I have seen is Funky Tonk, and I find it kind of irresistible.
His band are fine instrumentalists (obviously, if they float my boat). His songs are quality crafted pieces with good tales to tell with a very country flavour. What's more his latest album release -Concrete and Mud- is so good its in everyone's top ten of the genre.
Sam is obviously a devotee of Waylon Jennings, for me one of the true greats of Country music of the last half century and has developed a delivery reminiscent of him whilst still being an original in his own right.

This is a first step into a new area which I intend to develop using Americana of all types  to run alongside what we already do.  Why? Because everytime I do stuff with that kind of flavour in goes down a storm (like this undoubtedly will) so why wouldn't I. All these roots Americana styles are so closely related they mash up wonderfully anyway. Keep your finger on the button and watch this space (and this fella).
