Li'l Jimmy Reed's story
in his own words
I am guessing that Leon Atkins will be a sprightly octogenarian by the time this gig comes around and is probably one of the last original Alabama Bluesmen still out there shakin' his tail feathers.
We could call him the worlds first tribute act I suppose, but that would be grossly unfair as Leon has amassed a very respectable body of work off his own pen and established a solid reputation worldwide and has played amongst many other legends since.
With a back story that good why wouldn't he keep the name, every bluesman needs one.
Great old school blues guitarist and harmonica player. He is backed by none other than Bob Hall (The Blues Band, British Blues All Stars etc etc etc) one of the greatest blues pianists ever produced in the UK, and his partner in everything Hilary Blythe on Bass, affectionally known as The A Team.
Over recent years we have grown extremely fond of this fine gentlemen and his enthusiasm and may he strut his stuff a good while longer yet.
