AZIZ IBRAHIM

Saturday 8th September Bailey Room

I first saw Aziz at a festival about 6 years ago. Couldn't get him out of my head, so much so that almost every other memory of that event has been erased. I knew within minutes that I would work with him in the future.

A short while ago I got caught out in need of a opening act for a band right on the last minute. I don't know why but I thought of him and got in touch. By sheer fluke he was available and agreed to do it.  What a show!  I couldn't begin to describe what he delivered for us (so I won't) other than it was incredible. His guitar skills are off the scale.

Aziz is known for his work as lead guitarist for several internationally acclaimed bands and artists including The Stone Roses, Simply Red, Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Steven Wilson, Asia & Rebel MC.
His solo works include his acclaimed album telling the story of his family’s journey from Lahore To Longsight’ , the EP ‘Middle Road’ , and album ‘Rusholme Rock with Tabla master Dalbir Singh Rattan’, all showcasing his unique blend of progressive rock and Asian Blues.

Aziz' expertise has  been featured in The BBC’s Introducing Musicians Master class series. He currently serves as an advisor and mentor for University of Central Lancashire’s music program and is a member of the Creative Communities Group.

Ibrahim ‘s commitment to community causes includes giving guitar lessons and mentoring sessions for prisoners in a re-integration program and providing Music Therapy for hospice patients.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth recognized Ibrahim’s contributions to Great Britain’s economy, culture, and the music industry in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in 2005 along with Brian May, Jeff Beck and the Bee Gees. He is also a recipient of the UK Jinnah award, for outstanding achievement in music.

We are privileged to have him amongst us.
