What isn't fantastic about "the funkiest little Juke Joint in the Queen's England"

Out of Orange Ca. USA from the people that brought you Well Hung Heart, and DVL, a brand new project
For crying out loud listen to this. Greta Valenti is off the scale
This outfit has been formed by partners in all things Greta Valenti and Robin Davey. You may remember them from such bands as DVL, British Blues Group, The Hoax and the punky Well Hung Heart.  Bluefunk has managed to get a piece of them all except BBG. Blink and you will miss their next project. Don't allow yourself to miss this one, whether it is transient or destined to rule the world, when they feel like it, they will call time and it will go the way of all things. I love that attitude, constantly forcing themselves forwards.
So far they have not only hit the target with everything they've done they generally place in the gold. I have no doubt this is heading to that same spot. From what I have heard from the EP release, it is choice. A delicious mix of Louisiana swamp and rough edged Chuck Berry-like blues riffs, with a mix of oddball classic covers and quality originals.
As the Pope once said "good shit dat"

Diz 'Honey Bear' Watson

"Diz ‘Honey Bear’ Watson brought his authentic yet distinctive rhythm and blues piano style to the Beal Bocht last week. Accompanied by Tony Uter on congas, he ran the gamut of his vocal and instrumental influences before an appreciative audience, which was treated to some of the most elegant blues piano heard here for some time. Elegance may seem an odd word in the relatively raw context of blues, but Watson’s touch, time and sense of idiom, as a pianist, combines control with no dilution of emotional content. As a vocalist, he has a firm grasp of a variety of styles which, allied to an exuberant personality, makes for immediate rapport with the listener". -a recent review from a festival in Europe.
Diz played at the very first Bluefunk Christmas Party more than a decade ago. he probably still thinks it was the pinnacle of his career, although being asked to back Dr John with his band on the maestro's first UK tour might figure reasonably high on a huge list of performance highlights :-)

Charli White

Many of you will remember Charli from when she opened for Lucy Zirins at Bluefunk quite a while back. She is a local singer songwriter whom I have watched develop since she was about 13 yrs old. Always loaded with talent and potential The last 12 months have seen her leap forward and really start to show the world what she has to offer. She has been placed on virtually all of this year's Manchester city centre festivals and many more up and down the country. Her songwriting skills have exploded possibly due to studying music at BIMM in Manchester but more likely that she is maturing rapidly as a performer due to constantly performing.
We welcome Charli back.
